Knowledge Innovation, Extended Division of Labor and Social Expanded Reproduction

Abstract: Marx's theory of scientific and technological progress, the division of labor, and the connotation-oriented expanded reproduction effectively analyzes the capitalist economic problems. Since the second half of the nineteenth century, the second and the third technological revolution and the industrial revolution took place, knowledge innovation and technological progress not only improved labor productivity and accelerated the depreciation of fixed capital and the speed of updating, but also expanded the social division of labor and industrial structure, which leads to the emergence of new industries producing the means of production and consumer goods, so that capitalism has achieved long-time, significant economic growth. Therefore, this article attempts to approach the new phenomenon and problems existing in the capitalist economic development, adopts Marx’s theory of scientific and technological progress and connotation-oriented expanded reproduction, and explores the issue on the connotation-oriented expanded reproduction of modern capitalism from the perspective of knowledge innovation and expansion of division of labor.
