The Thinking Method Embedded in the Major Concept of Whole-process People's Democracy

Abstract: The way of thinking is an important dimension for a deeper comprehending of the major concept of the whole-process people's democracy. This major concept is a result of understanding the law governing China's democratic political development with six ways of thinking concerning the governance of China in the new era. They include planning the overall situation and setting the direction with the strategic thinking; learning about the past road and looking into the future with the historical thinking; taking a holistic and balanced approach and focusing on the key points with the dialectical thinking; enabling new connotations and promoting new practices with the innovative thinking; advancing institutionalization, standardization and procedurization with the rule of law thinking; and ensuring that China still keeps to the previous path and direction with the bottom line thinking. As an organic whole, these six ways jointly demonstrate the thinking features and theoretical characteristics of this major concept.
